Horsey-Ride

Axel and Megan enjoying the horsey in Aunt Muffie's back yard. I am assured these kind are safer than the one I concussed myself on in 1981.

Leah and Axel Play With Emma and Megan

Axel Observes the Chess

In SF today, hanging out at Cafe International in the Lower Haight. Leah and her chicken hat fit in well here.

Thank You, May I Have Another?

Jon podiums again at the Tour de Nez Village Circuit Road Race!

Delicious Lift-served Mountain Biking

Yum.

The Race Winner, Late to the Podium

Jon, Justin and the flower girls in several states of boredom, killing time until Roman arrives...

Jon Podiums at Tour de Nez Crit!!!

In a move a little over halfway through the race Jon broke away with Justin Englund and Roman Kilun and stayed away despite strong chasing on the part of BMC, Bissel, Successful Living, and Kelly Benefits. Jon got second, closely on the wheel of race winner Roman. Justin was right there for third. The huge crowd and press presence made this a very exciting podium for all of us.

Caged Parking Lot Babies

As we pulled out of the casino parking lot in Winnemucca we saw a woman with a corral of babies.

Leah at St. Paul's - Winnemucca

The cathedrals in Winnemucca are more quaint and modest than others we've seen in the last year.

Utah Rest Area

Very nice bathrooms and even a little fire hydrant in the pet area.

Colorado Wine Country

Palisade, Colorado is a river town on the western slope of the Rockies. It is known for its fabulous peaches and Colorado wines. We stopped at the Carlson Vinyards and tasted the selection, including a Reisling which, in 2004, won an international prize for best Reisling. After the tasting and wine purchases we were invited to eat our picnic lunch in their lovely yard looking out at the vines. Leah played with her new hackey sac and Axel frolicked about the yard. Those familiar with this blog may wonder if there were any donkeys. There were several friendly kitties but the closest we got to a donkey a possible mule sighting on the drive in. Next stop: Utah Lake just east of Provo, then on to California on Thursday

Teva Mountain Games Part 3

The Teva Games were capped off by the Beast with a 3rd place in the big money hillclimb time trial, second only to Ben Day and Chris Baldwin (Austrailian and US Time Trial champions, respectively). Great job Jon. That 26 minute, 57 second effort paid for all the gas for our tour of the west this summer. I wanted Jon to wear his medal in the photo but the baby was playing with it and it is currently lost in the back seat. Here is a photo of Jon driving and feeling around in the backseat in for the medal.

Something for Everyone

The Teva Mountain games even has a hackey sac competition! I won a hat.

Teva Mountain Games

After spending a snowy night at the 10000 ft Camp Hale campground (at the site of the old WW2 10th Mountain Division training area) we are hanging in Vail Village. Jon is racing the hillclimb at noon and there are all sorts of things to do in the meantime. Pictured here is Leah, resplendent in her chickenhead hat, summiting the climbing wall.

Delicate Arch

Leah and I took a girl's trip to Moab with our neighbors Stacy and Billie Blue. It has been a perfect trip with lots of fun hikes and sights. Here are Leah and Billie Blue underneath Delicate Arch.
