Jon "The Breaker" Baker strikes again, this time breaking the will and the thigh muscles of all his fellow Men's Pro/1/2 racers in the Boulder Cat Eye Road Race. This race is what is known in cycling as a Spring Classic (read: cold, rainy, road race with a lot of dirt sections).
Jon and his teammates on the Vitamin Cottage Cycling Team just went to the front of the peloton and hammered. In lap 2 (of 6), the small group of guys that were still with him fell back (see photo), and Jon finished the last two thirds of the race solo.
I found him, motionless, in the hot tub when I got home and his ability to move about has been degenerating ever since. "I could've gone five minutes slower and still won; I went too hard," Jon was heard muttering later in the evening. He says the cardio engine outdid his leg muscles, which need a little more hard effort in them before they catch up.
