Aspen Grove Market

Guess what???? I don't go grocery shopping anymore. My grocer is a Boulder start-up called Aspen Grove. They take your order online -either for pickup of delivery- and there are basically no fees if you do big enough orders. At noon I spent about 5 minutes choosing (based on saved favorites from my previous orders) what I wanted and then took a nap with the baby. I awoke to Leah dutifully putting this counter full of groceries into their appropriate locations. Dishsoap, ice, Salmon, lunchmeat, soy milk, carrot juice, lettuce, kiwis, bananas... you name it! They also sell formula and diapers, but I've got 1-800-Diapers covering all of that with Wal-mart prices and free shipping. Ahhh.

What the hail?

Bubbles!

Day at the Rockies

Leah's little league team got invited to Coors Field to watch the Rockies play the Royals (Rockies lost in extra innings). So last weekend we all packed up and headed to Denver. They got to parade around the warning track before the game. Leah said she just wanted to know if it was "spongy". Here they are, parading,. I took this photo from the nosebleed section using my zoom lens. Leah is number 5. Cubbies on the big screen. Leah was on it, too but I didn't take the picture in time. Here is Axel with dada (he says dada constantly now... to everybody). Baby "faux"hawks are quite popular. Dada gets hairstyling credits. They call this a helmet sundae, Leah said it was a really good sundae. Jon said the ice cream was low grade. To his credit, it was a pretty long day for a little baby.

New Building

For those of you that visited us over the last year, this is the final product of that huge construction project that was going on at Broadway and Canyon. People came to look at the house yesterday and there are two more showings today. Maybe there will be an offer soon...

Leah's at Bat

Click To Play So in AA Minors Little League, 4 balls and the tee comes out (this is because very few pitchers at this level can consistently pitch into the strike zone). Without this rule the game would be a series of walks. You get one swing at the tee; you miss you're out. Why am I explaining all this? Here is video of Leah's at bat in which the tee eventually comes out. By the way, she was 2 for 2 and scored a run, her team won 10-8. She was awarded the game ball by her coach for her effort sliding into second base on a close play. The Cubbies are 5-1-1 which I believe makes them #1 in the league!

"....because I'm pretty good with a bow staff"

Click To Play Okay, so those of you that haven't seen Napoleon Dynamite at least twice probably have no idea what that title means. What I'm trying to say is the baby has skills -mad skills- and the video proves it!

18,000 Naked People

Grandmas - Avert Your Eyes

I took the crib bumper out because I heard they were unnecessary and with all the crib changes this week (yucky illness-I'll say no more) it was much easier without it. Then today I crept into Axel's room during nap time and found him with both arms splayed through the crib and and his mouth firmly chomped on one of the bars. Is this funny or dangerous?

A known baseball menace

You're the one with the stick

So after I went 0 for 40 at the Hardball slow-pitch -in which Leah was batting about .700- she says, "Don't be afraid of the ball Mommy. You're the one with the stick." I switched to softballs.

The Pee Barricade

You know how Roman Soldiers used to face onslaught by lining up in tight formation linking shields and pointing their javelins upward? Well I am implementing such a strategy against the cats. Yes, I am that bad. They insist on urinating over the back of their $100 self-cleaning, zen garden litter box. Solution? I've taped rows of toothpicks in 3 directions along the back of the unit. Next cat to try to shove their heiny too far back is going to get a pointed reminder not to.

Butters and Axel Play with a Moth

Click To Play So Butters is playing with this moth he caught and Axel tries to get in on the action. They continue passing the moth back and forth until eventually, in the manner of Lennie from "Of Mice and Men", Axel squishes his plaything into a creamy goo and I have to confiscate the sad thing. Note to the GETB (Grandmas for the Ethical Treatment of Babies) : no moth bits were ingested by the baby and his hands were promptly washed.
